Bio

Zippy is an award-winning Kenyan Filmmaker who has been working in the global industry for nearly a decade as a Director/Editor. She has worked on both fiction and Non-Fiction projects filmed in over 20 countries.

She most recently Co-Directed a short Documentary, ‘a fork, a spoon & a KNIGHT’ with renowned Director Mira Nair, for Tribeca Film Institute’s ‘Power of Word Series’, and worked in the editorial department on the Disney Film ‘Queen of Katwe’ premiering end of this year.

Zippy has worked with numerous clients including Universal Studios Singapore and Action Horizons LA. Her short films have received great international attention. ‘Mother’s Song’ got a great review by Hollywood Director, Oliver Stone in a special screening in Singapore and another award winning film she produced in the Philippines, screened at the Director’s Guild of America.

She holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from the Kenya Institute of Mass communication, a Degree in Public Administration and a Masters in Fine Arts – Film from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts - Asia.

She continues to work Independently both in Film and TV and most recently started an international collective of film professionals ‘Afro-films international’, which aims to encourage International co-productions, provide high quality film production services in the region and create a platform to tell the continent’s unexplored stories.
